Winter at the Zoo

The horses spent most of their time in the heated barn, only venturing outside for a few hours daily. The Zoo got 100 bales of hay for the winter, so the horses ate fine. Also, don’t mindlessly follow Google directions. Google had people diverting from I-95 through the twisty, winding, hilly roads around the Zoo

Canyonlands – Chesler Park and Lost Canyon

My spring 2021 trip to Canyonlands National Park was amazing. I went to Horseshoe Canyon and Druid Rock in The Needles district. I enjoyed myself, but I realized Canyonlands has more to see. For this trip to the Needles District in Canyonlands NP, I am going to Chesler Park and Lost Canyon. Some say Chesler

Fun, challenging, beautiful, high, windy, and tired sum up this trip. This 16-mile loop is in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, just south of Rocky Mountain National Park. The route starts and finishes at the Hessie TH, just west of Eldora, CO, and goes to King Lake, the High Lonesome Trail, and Devils Thumb Lake. Many

My brother sends me photos and videos of their zoo. The images and videos are beautiful, funny, and cute. The fact that my brother and sister-in-law can

Canyonlands – Horseshoe Canyon and Druid Arch

I took my first trip to Canyonlands and fell in love with the rock art and wonderous rock formations of the Needles District. In both cases, I camped on BLM land and did day hikes into the park. The Horseshoe Canyon and Druid Arch are in separate parts of the park and require driving. Horseshoe

Great Sand Dunes National Park

My curiosity drove me to do this adventure. I read about the Great Sand Dunes and how they were formed and exist today; however, their size seemed awe-inspiring. I wanted to experience them as a backpacker. I took this trip in March 2021 and got an authentic experience of solitude, barrenness, and lots of sand.

Colorado National Monument

A few of winters ago, I wanted to do some simple camping and backpacking during winter to remain active and outdoors. One of my adventures was visiting the Colorado National Monument (CNM). The CNM usually remains snow-free with occasional snow. Temperatures still get cold. I hoped the out-of-season trip would not be crowded since the
